This book is very helpful in my research for compiling my family history books. My ancestors came to America from both Norway and Austria and settled in North Dakota where they farmed and raised their families. Pictures tell it like it was which is what is needed to better understand what they went thru in order to survive.

One for the boy from the prairie

We recently celebrated my husband's 70th birthday and invited his high school chums from North Dakota to join us. It was such fun for my husband to have this photo essay available to share with his friends. It brought back wonderful memories of growing up on a large farm and going to a one room prairie school. While looking at it for the first time he continually commented on this picture or that photo with genuine enthusiasm. Thank you for having this wonderful documentation of North Dakota's early days! We love it! It will be revisited time and again.

Wonderful Book

I bought this book as a Christmas gift for my 91 year old Grandfather. He was born and raised in North Dakota and he really enjoyed this book, as it brought back a lot of memories for him. I've been working on a family ancestry project for the last few years and this book really helped me to have an understanding of what it was like for him growing up. This is an excellent book series and I've purchased other copies in the past as gifts, about various towns, and the books are always warmly received.
