Renowned singing groups include The Antones, The Stereos, Buddy Sharp and the Shakers, The Mingo Men, and Bob Parissi of Wild Cherry. Among major movies filmed in the town are Reckless, Hearts of Steel, and 1978 Academy Award winner The Deer Hunter.

Great History of Mingo

Any resident, present or former, of Mingo will love this book. What great memories it brings back. It is well written and contains 200 photos of Mingo history - the floods, snow storms, businesses, recreation, sports, music groups, movies, and much more. Well worth the cost of the book!

This was beautifully put together. I would recommend all who grew up in this mill town to read it. It would also be good for history buffs who want to get the sense of growing up in a small town with steel mills as its main source of income.
