Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind, by Heidi Ashworth

When the dowager duchess of Marcross insists he accompany her niece, Ginny, into the country for the day to execute a special task, Sir Anthony is appalled, to say the least. Ginny, who thinks little of the fashionable Sir Anthony, is as eager to be done with the chore as he, but before they arrive at their destination they are stranded by highwaymen and launched into adventure. Forced into each other's company, Ginny begins to sense the passionate nature beneath Sir Anthony's mask of ennui, while his exasperation with the forthright Ginny turns into admiration of her wit and charm. Then beautiful Lucinda Barrington and Lord Avery, a poet, come onto the scene, sparking Ginny's imagination and revealing a way to unmask the true man behind Sir Anthony's frivolous facade. Meanwhile, the dowager duchess has plans of her own for this pair, and her special task turns into a battle of words, wills, and wit.

From Publishers Weekly
A dashing rogue and a fiery heroine spar in Ashworth's charming Regency-era historical romance debut. Sir Anthony Crenshaw reluctantly accompanies Ginny Delacourt into the countryside at the request of his grandmother, who is trying to play matchmaker. But Crenshaw's mask of etiquette drives the spitfire Delacourt mad, and they can barely stand each other. When highwaymen accost the pair and force them to seek shelter at a local estate, they meet Lucinda Barrington and Lord Avery, lovers destined to marry, if only they can get past their foolish need for drama. Crenshaw and Delacourt begin to fall for each other, though their courtship is complicated by the attentions of both Barrington and Avery. The subplot involving Lord Avery and Lucinda Barrington elevates Ashworth's story above the genre's usual fare and the couple is a natural foil to Delacourt and Crenshaw. Their presence provides genre fans the opportunity to laugh at familiar circumstances taken to absurd extremes. (Dec.)

It was all the fault of his blasted grandmother’s roses. If the dowager Duchess of Marcross hadn’t insisted that Sir Anthony Crenshaw travel to her country estate to check up on her priceless roses, Anthony would still be comfortably ensconced in his London townhouse rather than rattling around rough country roads with the old termagant’s ward, Ginerva Delacourt. Of course, the journey is fraught with one disaster after another, ultimately culminating in a house party from hell when Anthony and Ginny find themselves staying with a neighbor after Ginny’s maid comes down with a contagious disease. Spending even more time with the opinionated, annoying Ginny seems like the worst sort of holiday imaginable, but much to his surprise, Anthony soon discovers he enjoys battling wits with the always-outspoken Miss Delacourt. Ashworth takes some of the stock staples of the traditional regency and gives them her own unique spin in this refreshingly sweet, tartly humorous romance. --John Charles

"Classic" Regency
By Joyce DiPastena
Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind was reminiscent of the "classic" Regency romances that I grew up with. A delightful comedy of errors, filled with sparkle and wit. I read the bulk of this novel during a flight from Arizona to Utah, and literally fell into a giggling fit during one section of this book. Thankfully, the flight wasn't full and the seat next to me was empty, so I didn't have to explain my embarrassing outburst. A book that literally makes me laugh out loud is rare these days. Brava, Ms Ashworth! I look forward to her next Regency!

Miss Delacourt Spoke Her Mind, Now It's My Turn!
By Rebecca
Sir Anthony is cajoled by his grandmother to escort young, beautiful Ginny Delacourt to the country, where they will check on the dowager's prize roses. However, they are accosted on the highway, and are rescued by the Barringtons (with whom they are already acquainted) who live nearby. Due to a quarantine at the house of this well-to-do family, Sir Anthony and Ginny are forced to spend a great deal of time together, and the sparks fly.

Throw in the hilarious, self-affected, but good-hearted Lucinda (Mr. and Mrs. Barrington's eligible daughter), and the handsome-but-not-a-whole-lot-upstairs Lord Avery (who fell victim to the quarantine while visiting), and shenanigans with plenty of intrigue are around every corner!

Sir Anthony is the perfect balance between cad and gentleman, while Miss Delacourt is a sweet, strong, intelligent young woman who can stand on her own two feet without being brash.

This book is a rare gem. It's difficult to find a clean romance that is not only wholesome, but is also fascinating, hilarious, and well-written. I laughed out loud several times while reading, which is not a common occurrence for me.

Ms. Ashworth is a talented writer, and gives all her supporting characters such personality and presence that they are as memorable as her main characters. I enjoyed this read thoroughly, and am eagerly anticipating Heidi's next book. If you love regency romance or are a fan of romance of any sort, I highly recommend Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind!

Refreshing Romantic Comedy
By Jennifer Lauricella
I was excited to read this book but wasn't expecting it to be so funny. The characters are so well developed I am already hoping for a sequel and I just finished this two days ago. Definitely one of the best books I've read in years.
