Dr Ian Maxwell, a former record officer at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, is now a freelance writer and a leading expert on Irish genealogy. He conducts courses on genealogy throughout Northern Ireland and he is a regular speaker at genealogical conferences in Belfast and Dublin. He writes articles regularly for Family History Monthly, Your Family Tree and Ancestor magazines on Irish, Scottish and English social history and genealogy. His previous publications include, Researching Armagh Ancestors, Researching Down Ancestors, Your Irish Ancestors and Tracing Your Scottish Ancestors.

there are some good suggestions for researchj in the book but it appears to me that being in Belfast and having the opportunity of using Proni this would be excellent, not so good for long distance work

A Great Resource

Thu book is a great resource for beginner and advanced genealogists alike. The author provides some history and associated documents, and where they can be found. There are lots of little known sources available at PRONI, and elsewhere, that are of great value to researchers. I bookmarked many pages with reference to sources that I never knew existed. If you're searching for Northern Ireland ancestors, this book is well worth the read!
