Four hundred years ago the medieval mystery plays, presented each year in various English villages to teach the stories of the Bible to the illiterate population, were the great classic English dramas. Queen Elizabeth I banned these plays because she considered them Roman Catholic, and since then the texts have been available only to scholars.

The thirty-two plays of the Wakefield cycle, written during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, go from the Creation to the Last Judgement, covering every important event in the Old and New Testaments. An Excellent Anthology in 21st Century English

This is an excellent text and reads very easily, especially for students. I have used it in my classes with undergraduates, and they have enjoyed it and used it well. I find this version not only accessible for my students but also accurate to the original Middle English text. I would recommend it highly to any teacher or student of English Medieval literature, especially of the Corpus Christi Cycle dramas.

Pretty Good

Rose's introduction is kind of muddled, and so isn't as useful as you might think--however, the translation of the plays is good and the author is quite thorough in his research.
